Photos are precious– they're our memories made real.
Yet so many of our older photos are still in physical photo albums– with no digital backups.
How can you digitize them easily and preserve them?
Google's PhotoScan may just be the answer you've been looking for.
You can use this free app from Google to scan your photos just using your phone– no need for a fancy scanner or going all the way to a local photography studio.
What's PhotoScan?
PhotoScan is a photo scanning app from Google. It's available for both iOS and Android.
To get this free app, just head over to your app store and type in PhotoScan in the search menu.
Like the name suggests, with PhotoScan you can scan your old photos.
There's one particular feature that makes this app really special.
The Google team found a way to eliminate one of the biggest issues with scanning photos with your phone:
Glare.
Glare from the photo, the album's lamination, or the surroundings was enough to ruin a good photo scan.
No more!
By taking several shots of the same photo and combining them, Google gets rid of the problem.
So whenever you are at a family reunion and see that old photo album full of memories, you can just take out your phone and use PhotoScan to capture them.
PhotoScan and Google Photos can help you keep your precious photographs safe.
