Great topic. A few years ago, I would never have described myself as a lifelong learner, but as I have built my business, I found that the more I learn about tech, the more I love it. I often have clients ask…how did you do that? I LOVE having the answers…
I learned about Brooks Duncan from my peeps at the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals, I got introduced to your work from your joint webinar with Brooks. I was thrilled with your style. You translate what can be very technical, in plain language.
Our kids are natives in this landscape, they learned by being immersed in technology since their earliest education experiences. With help from others in the boomer generation, it turns out it is a blast. Thanks for showcasing what is possible!
Steve, I am a similar age to yourself and run what would be called a Home Inspection business in Canada although I am based in the UK as a surveyor. I first became interested in Tech when property condition reports started to be created digitally rather than typed which was back in 1995. I worked for a national company then and many of my colleagues fought against the new technology and many never embraced it. They found it frustrating, however I needed to understand it and use it in my business which I started after redundancy in 2006. The paperless office with Brooks Duncan linked me to Dotto Tech and Evernote. I have not found a business reason to use Social Media or needed any particular online marketing other than a basic website. I do not feel you should do something just because everyone else does. I do however find all the tech subjects that you cover very interesting and often think about ways that certain technology could be used to streamline my workflow. Lifelong learning for me is really just having a continued interest in things that can benefit your business and personal life.
Thanks dude. ❤️????
Yes as a photo/photoshop teacher, I’ve always been reading & taking classes or workshop or have looked for online training such Lynda.com, our public library offers a free subscription. As well as managing user groups. We never stop learning. And like yourself my career has evolved over the years and continues to do so.
As for your question, I’ve never looked for an age range for instructors I’ve taken classes from. I’ve listened to Amy too. She was on creativelive awhile back.
