If you haven’t used Google’s cloud-based tools recently you might not have known that Google has aggregated all their applications like, Google Docs, within Google Drive. Drive is now your one-stop-shop for all of your Google application needs and they offer some fantastic templates to help you get the most bang for your buck!
Google Drive Applications
To get to these applications simply navigate to the “New” button in the upper left part of the main landing page and you’ll see a drop-down menu with all the application options;
- Docs is the word processor,
- Sheets is for spreadsheets,
- Slides is for presentations,
- Forms is for surveys,
- Drawings and Maps are for just that.
Within each application you can navigate to the homepage for that application by clicking the icon in the top left, this will take you to all your other files of that document type respectively.
Google Drive Templates
Within each homepage for each application you’ll see a banner along the top of your screen with all the options you have for blank templates. Templates are what I am asked about the most often when it comes to Google Drive; these allow you to format each application to each need.
Do you need to make a budget? There’s a template for that! What about a portfolio? There’s a template for that! Need to make a template? There may even be a template for that.
The great thing about templates is you don’t have to follow them exactly, you can take the format, the ideas, the sections that you like and change them to fit your need. Templates can be either a finishing point or a starting point, the flexibility is awesome!
Until next time, have fun stormin’ the castle…
