YouTube on the Rise 2016 – 100K Subscribers #46

The future is bright!! Those of us that know and use online video in social media should be extremely excited! I say again, extremely excited about the information found in the 2016 Social Media Marketing Industry Report conducted by Social Media Examiner. A survey of approximately 5000 marketers on how they plan on engaging in social media in the coming year. While Facebook dominates the landscape, YouTube and Live Video is on the upswing!.

The most commonly used social media platforms include Facebook (93%), Twitter (76%), LinkedIn (67%),  and YouTube (53%) to round out the top four. Interestingly YouTube is ahead of Instagram, Google+, and Pinterest, which validates those of us who advocate the value of YouTube as a legitimate and sustainable social media platform. For the most part, people rarely view YouTube as a social media platform and more of a delivery mechanism. So, this should open everyone’s eyes that it is, in fact, becoming increasingly more accepted and growing in popularity as the trend to video continues to expand. Video is a constant theme for 2016/17

The number one finding from this report is that video has become essential. A whopping 73% of marketers plan on increasing their use of video in their social media campaigns. This includes all types of video, YouTube, live streaming, etc. but Facebook and YouTube hold down the two top spots as far as use in their plans. For those that are in the market of creating content, this is huge!  As new platforms emerge and existing tools advance and become more robust, it creates a growing opportunity to provide these marketers with valuable content.

Video is powerful. It’s here to stay, rapidly growing and constantly evolving. All content creators can take this as validation that current endeavors are well placed. Until next time, have fun stormin’ the castle!
